Do you have jewellery at the Pawnshop? You may then leave the jewellery at the Pawnshop for a maximum of 6 months. Of course you can refund your jewellery during that period. But you can also choose to re-lend your jewellery.
Renewing Your Loan
Are you still unable to repay the loan after 6 months? Then you can usually extend your loan. This is called re-lending. Pawnshops do not have to lend your jewellery again or for the same amount. Does the jewellery lose in value? Then you will receive less money. Does the jewellery increase in value? Then you can get more money. There are 2 options for extending your loan:
At the counter: You hand in your old agreement at the counter of the Pawnshop. It will be terminated and you will receive a new contract.
By mail: Do you live outside the region of The Hague? Send your agreement and letter to re-lend your jewellery to the Pawnshop. Do this at least 1 month before the end date.
After receiving your mail, the Pawnshop will send you an invoice. This shows the amount that you still have to pay and before which date you must do this. When the money is in, your old agreement will be terminated. The Pawnshop will then send the new agreement to you by registered mail.
Repay Your Loan
You can pick up your jewellery at the Pawnshop once you have paid the loan amount and the interest. That is called unloading. To do this, go to the counter of the Pawnshop. Bring a valid ID and your agreement. After payment you will immediately receive the items back.
You can only pick up your belongings yourself. If someone else wants to collect the item for you, you must authorize him or her. You can do this at the counter of the Pawnshop. You must bring your own ID and that of the authorized representative for this.
